Londonski dnevnici na naslovnim stranama izvještavaju o hitnoj istrazi pokrenutoj nakon što su u jednom od tamošnjih tabloida objavljene fotografije na kojima se vide britanski vojnici kako zlostavljaju četvoricu iračkih mladića.
Štampa prenosi da su britanske snage u Iraku i Afganistanu u stanju povišene pripravnosti zbog strahovanja da bi objavljivanje slika i videozapisa zlostavljanja moglo da dovede do napada na njih.
Times i Guardian prenose ocjenu izvora u britanskom ministarstvu odbrane koji kažu da se videosnimak pojavio u vrlo nezgodnom trenutku, kada su u islamskom svijetu već uzburkane strasti zbog karikatura poslanika Muhammeda.
Sada je taj snimak, kako primjećuje Guardian, na arapskim televizijama prikazan baš dok su se tamošnje vlasti trudile da smire situaciju oko kariktaura.
Koliko je cijela priča politički osjetljiva pokazuje činjenica da su i premijer Tony Blair, koji se nalazi u Južnoafričkoj Republici, i drugi članovi njegove vlade odmah potrčali da obećaju istragu i da podvuku da većina britanskih vojnika u Iraku odgovorno obavlja svoj posao, piše Guardian.
Times u redakcijskom komentaru ocjenjuje da nije teško predvidjeti koliko će teške biti posljedice snimka zlostavljanja koji je prikazan širom arapskog svijeta.
On će svakom fanatiku i vjerskom ekstremisti omogućiti da previdi "oslobođenje iračkog naroda od Saddama Husseina" i da umjesto toga vidi samo loše namjere koalicije koju predvodi Amerika, navodi Times.
Independent, također u redakcijskom komentaru, navodi da će fanatici u snimku zlostavljanja vidjeti dokaz da Zapad prezire muslimane.
List istovremeno ocjenjuje da ima sve više znakova da u nekim jedinicama britanske vojske vladaju loša disciplina i banditsko ponašanje i da se tome hitno mora stati na kraj.

Royal Military Police have arrested a man in connection with video footage of British troops allegedly abusing Iraqi civilians, the Ministry of Defence confirmed today.
He was detained at 8.18pm last night, but officials refused to say where or confirm whether the man was a serving soldier.
An MoD spokesman said: "The RMP investigation into these extremely serious allegations is at very early stage. We can confirm that an arrest has been made in conjunction with this investigation."
He said the RMP would continue gathering evidence before deciding whether to bring the person before a court martial.
Earlier, the Iraqi government today expressed its "deepest concern" over a video that apparently showed British troops attacking defenceless teenagers in Basra.
A spokesman for the prime minister, Ibrahim Jaafari, urged Tony Blair to bring those "responsible to justice immediately" after footage showing the brutal beating by at least eight soldiers was shown across the Arab world.
"Mr Jaafari expresses his deepest concern at the horrific scenes of violence that took place," Bashar al-Naher, the British-based spokesman for the Mr Jaafari, said. "The prime minister urges Tony Blair and the highest levels of the Ministry of Defence to bring those responsible to justice immediately and institute even more stringent measures to monitoring and assessing and make sure such incidents that are so tragic never happen again."
Speaking on the BBC's Today programme, Mr al-Naher said the Iraqi prime minister was grateful to the British government and armed forces for doing "an excellent job" in keeping the peace after Saddam Hussein. But he reiterated that the chief battle was for the "hearts and minds" of Iraqis.
Colonel Tim Collins, a veteran of the conflict, told the programme that Iraqis were right to feel disappointed when the British army failed to keep the very high standards expected of it. He said he strongly believed a more senior officer had been complicit in the beatings by leaving the soldiers unsupervised.
"Someone chose not to step in and deal with that situation who would have seen it and they are clearly not fit to hold that rank," he said. "An officer or senior NCO [non-commissioned officer] more likely, who's either been in this or has failed in his duty because he has failed to deal with it."
He said such incidents were isolated and that British forces were unique in the region by dealing with "petrol bombers and grenade throwers" using plastic shields and batons rather than "lethal force".
The video, taken in early 2004 and obtained by the News of the World, apparently was filmed from a rooftop for fun by a corporal who is heard laughing and urging on his colleagues. It shows the troops repeatedly kicking and punching civilians with batons after seizing them following riots two years ago in the Basra region in which British forces were attacked.
The cameraman is heard laughing and saying: "Oh yes! Oh yes! You're gonna get it. Yes, naughty little boys. You little fuckers, you little fuckers. Die. Ha Ha." Soldiers are shown beating the Iraqis, with one apparently kicking a young man in the genitals as he lay on the ground. A young Iraqi is apparently head-butted by a helmeted soldier and hit in the kidneys. The Iraqi cries: "No, please," as the commentator says in a mocking, childlike, voice: "No, please, don't hurt me." The video also apparently shows an Iraqi corpse being kicked, and, as the man's head is held up to the camera, a soldier sniggers: "He's been a bad motherfucker."
A military spokesman in Basra, Flight Lieutenant Chris Thomas, yesterday reacted to the release of the tape by condemning "all acts of abuse and brutality" by British troops. "We hope that the good relations that the multinational forces have worked very hard to develop won't be adversely affected by this material." He added that the allegations related "to only a klix number of the 80,000 personnel that have served in Iraq".

Nije to nista: jucer je Dick, podpredsjednik SAD pucao iz sacmare za vrijeme lova na ptice i pogodio svog prijatelja. Zamisli tek da mu ovaj nije bio prijatelj.... 
Ovo sa britanskim vojnicima nije ni malo saljivo. Poznato mi je da su britanski vojnici "tvrdji" od americkih, ali da izudaraju djecu na ovaj nacin?
Slicno se dogodilo 1993 sa cuvenim kanadskim padobrancima u Somaliji. Uhvatili tinejdzera u kampu--valjda krao hranu--pa ga odveli u bunker i tukli dok ga nisu ubili. Kazna: cijeli bataljon raspusten i vise ne postoji kao jedinica, a svi placeni vojnici iz istog demobilisani.
Ucinis jednu tonu dobroga i boriš se dvije godine da bi poboljsao zivot iracana, samo da bi par morona sjebali sve u par minuta.

Zao mi je momaka, ali ce prezivjeti. Dobili su malo po guzi i to je to. Tamo je rat i neka je samo glava ziva. Nadam se da ce ti vojnici biti primjerno kaznjeni.
Nego, nesto je prisjetih scena iz posljednjeg nam rata.
Eh, da se moglo proci sa malo pendreka po ledjima.....
Nesto se ne sjecam da nam Iracani nesto pomogoshe. Dapace, cuo sam da su suradjivali sa Milosevicem. Kao i Libija.
U principu, jedini koji su nam pomogli su upravo Ameri (bez Busha, naravno) i ostale clanice NATO pakta.
Neka me neko ispravi ako grijesim.

Nemoj mi reci da su ti upravo ti bubrezi preokupacija u zivotu i u tom ratu u Iraku?
Mada mi je zao momaka (moram izgleda ponoviti) ali su relativno dobro prosli u odnosu na zrtve drugih ratova, pa tako i onoga kod nas, a bolje su prosli nego oni civili koje kolju pred kamerama.
I svaki ce ti reci "e, kamo srece da se na tome zavrsilo". Mislim na ljude koji su prosli kroz konc. logor Manjaca.Neki iz Mahnjače su prošli baš tako
Osim toga, mislim da ce ti se vecina ljudi koji su prosli Manjacu kiselo osmjehnuti na ovu izjavu. Mozda ce i pomisliti kako pokusavas umanjiti i diskreditovati ono sto su oni prosli, a na sto ti se SDS u RS-u moze blago nakloniti pa cak i "hvala" reci.

Koliko mi je poznato, pocinioci nedjela u Abu Graibu su pohapseni i kaznjeni. Takav slucaj ce biti i sa ovima vojncima koji tuku one mladice. U svakom narodu ima budala ali je bitan stav njihovih vlada i vojnog komandnog kadra u odnosu prema ovakvim slucajevima.Sreća pa su bili na našoj strani (Sjeća li se iko Abu Graiba)
Nego, zasto sumnjam u tvoje suosjecajne reakcije i zasto mislim da ti zelis izmanipulisati ovaj slucaj u politicke svrhe u cilju optuzivanja cijelog zapadnog svijeta za pokusaj unistenja muslimanskog svijeta?
Naravno necu te pogresno shvatiti i pomisliti kako si protiv stanovnika drzava koji su pomogli ocuvanju BiH, koji su bombardovali agresora na BiH, a podrzavas zemlju koja je suradjivala sa tim agresorom i na stetu BiH.
