Mad Marge & The Stonecutters - Liberated!

"From the obscure and often lonely cities of the High Desert, located in San Bernardino County, California, this Rock`n`Roll four piece MAD MARGE &AND THE STONECUTTERS delivers an appealing and impacting sound with hints of Punk Rock, Psychobilly, Metal and everything in between."

In late 2004 with the demise of their previous bands, Mad Marge (Vox), Wehttam (Guitar), Passion Dan (Drums) and Edgar (Double Bass) immediately found camaraderie between one another as friends and musicians to form MAD MARGE &AND THE STONECUTTERS. Within months they became one of the hardest working bands in the Psychobilly scene that spent the next 2 years working on familiarizing the bands name and their music with anyone who would listen.

TRACKLISTING:

1. No Looking Back
2. Issues
3. Sickness
4. In The Name Of
5. Dial Z For A Zombie
6. Hardest Thng
7. Walk Away
8. Liberation

Polecats - Pink Noise

The Polecats were part of the early-'80s British rockabilly revival scene, sporting the clothing, hairstyles, and even makeup to play the part to the hilt. The band was originally called "The Cult Heroes" but couldn't get any gigs at rockabilly clubs with a name that sounded "punk", so the original drummer Chris Hawkes came up with the name Polecats. Tim Polecat and Boz Boorer started playing together in 1976, they hooked up with Phil Bloomberg at the end of 1977.

The Polecats, heavily influenced by punk and 70s glamour rock (amongst other things), scored three British Top 40 singles with "John, I'm Only Dancing" (the David Bowie song), "Rockabilly Guy" (the former B-side of their independent single "Chicken Shack"), and a cover of the T-Rex (Marc Bolan) song "Jeepster". Their 1981 debut LP "Polecats Are Go!" (produced by dave Edmunds) is surely the best they ever did. If you ever see "Polecats Are Go!" on sale buy it. It's awesome! "John, I'm Only Dancing" was in the charts in England the same time as the Stray Cats second single "Rock This Town".

"Make A Circuit" was a final stab at making a hit. It was a real pop song, a dissapointing direction for a great band. They lost there record deal after that, although they released a few albums for independent labels which where nothing compared to "Polecats Are Go!". There is a album available called "Cult Heroes" which is a collection of demos from there early years.

Boz Boorer broke up the group to work with "Morrissey", but led a Polecats reunion in 1989, which produced a live album and a new studio set. Tim Polecat moved to LA and is playing with Slim Jim (Stray Cats) in a band named "Lucky 13". Raucous Records released a compilation of Boz Boorer's work titled Between The Polecats early 2001.

News from The just for fun team of Calella. I wonder what the festival will be called once it's in Pineda De Mar!

"16th PSYCHOBILLY MEETING 2008 PINEDA DE MAR, BARCELONA, SPAIN

DATES OF THE MEETING: 24th to 30th of June, 7 nights
DATES OF THE FESTIVAL: 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th of June, 4 nights festival.

Some of you already know that……..as we announced in 2007 psychobilly meeting program, we wanted to move the whole event to another town, the festival is getting bigger and bigger and we needed a better venue , we found the help we were looking for in Pineda de Mar, next town to Calella. The new venue it will be on the main beach in a big tend . We will keep the beach bar as meeting point during the day as is located in Pineda de Mar.

We decided to change the dates of the Psychobilly Meeting because you will get better hotel prices and good deals for flight tickets, as the high season stars in July and the weather is already sunny and hot.

We are going to update our page soon with list of Pineda hotels and prices.

At the moment we are working with the line up of the festival and the rest of parties organized for the rest of the days of the meeting, so subscribe to that blog if you want to be the first one to know what´s cookin´!!

See you at the beach!!!

Just for Fun"

Tiger Army is a psychobilly band that was formed in 1995 in Berkeley, California. The band played their first show at legendary venue 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California, with AFI on March 29, 1996. After making a name for themselves playing shows throughout the California area alongside AFI and English psychobilly pioneers The Meteors, they were signed to Chapter Eleven Records.
Tiger Army first entered the studio in the summer of 1996 to record a self-titled vinyl record EP, now referred to as the Temptation EP. This EP caught the attention of Tim Armstrong (of Operation Ivy and Rancid fame), owner of Hellcat Records, who signed the band. Tiger Army recorded their first full-length, the self-titled Tiger Army, in January of 1999. It was released that October. Stand-up bassist Joel Day left Tiger Army before the band was signed, so the Quakes stand-up bassist Rob Peltier was hired to play on the album.
During the ensuing California mini-tour promoting the album, Nick 13 (vocals and guitar of Tiger Army) asked Geoff Kresge, one of his former bandmates from his first band, Influence 13, to join the band. Kresge accepted, and joined as a permanent member a few months later. The band was asked to play on the Danzig and Samhain tour in 2000, where they befriended Samhain drummer London May. He joined the band when Adam Carson left.
The band recorded a second album, Tiger Army II: Power of Moonlite in 2001. London May left shortly after the recording, and was replaced with Fred Hell.
On March 10, 2003, Fred Hell was shot four times, including once in the head, by armed robbers who broke into his friend's apartment in Chino, California. A bullet became lodged in his brain, making it necessary for him to go through physical therapy before he could play drums again. At the time, the band was in the process of recording the album Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise. At first, the record was repeatedly delayed to make time for him to recover enough to perform, but his injuries proved serious enough for the band to hire a studio drummer, Mike Fasano, drum tech for both Rancid and Tiger Army, to play on the album. Hell attempted to play on the tour supporting the album's release, but he was again forced to stay and recover while Fasano joined the band on the road. In July 2004, Hell decided to depart from the band in light of his injuries.
Only months later, in September 2004, Geoff Kresge departed the band to focus his efforts on his new record label, Dead Body Records and began recruiting members for a new band called Viva Hate. He would join his wife Kamilla with Horrorpops as a guitarist a month later. Nick 13 quickly announced a new line-up for Tiger Army, featuring drummer "Wasted" James Meza (formerly of numerous other small Los Angeles psychobilly bands, and a former touring drummer for the Nekromantix) and stand-up bassist Jeff Roffredo (formerly of Cosmic Voodoo and Calavera), who are now full-time members of Tiger Army.
Tiger Army's fourth album, titled Music From Regions Beyond, was released on June 5, 2007 and was produced by Jerry Finn.
Tiger Army are currently featured on the main stage for the entire 2007 Vans Warped Tour.
