Resolution: The number of distinct pixels in each direction that can be displayed on the screen. More the resolution, better the image quality.
The primary difference between Full HD and HD Ready TVs is resolution. Resolution of a Full HD TV is double of that of a HD Ready TV.
Resolution of Standard Definition (Conventional) TVs is 720 H x 480 V = less than 1 million pixels.
Resolution of HD Ready TVs is 1366 H x 768 V = 1 million pixels
Resolution of Full HD TVs is 1920 H x 1080 V = 2 million pixels.
* H = number of Horizontal pixels, V = number of vertical pixels
What are “i”s and “p”s appended at the end of resolutions?
You might have come across TVs capable of displaying 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions. The “i” and “p” stand for Interlaced scan and Progressive scan respectively.
Interlaced scan displays each frame by dividing it into odd and even horizontal lines and displaying them consecutively. The switching is too fast for human eye to catch on standard definition TVs. However, in high resolution TVs, it is easily noticeable.
Progressive scan draws all the lines of a frame in one go.
This animation demonstrates the interline twitter effect. On the left are two progressive scan images. Center are two interlaced images. Right are two images with line doublers. Top are original resolution, bottom are with anti-aliasing. The two interlaced images use half the bandwidth of the progressive one. The interlaced scan (right) precisely duplicates the pixels of the progressive image (left), but interlace causes details to twitter. A line doubler operating in "bob" (interpolation) mode would produce the images at far right. Real interlaced video blurs such details to prevent twitter, as seen in the bottom row, but such softening (or anti-aliasing) comes at the cost of resolution. But even the best line doubler could never restore the bottom center image to the full resolution of the progressive image. Note – Because the frame rate has been slowed down by a factor of 3, you will notice additional flicker in simulated interlaced portions of this image.
i još jedna stvar je da nema šanmse da bi skidao film od par desetina GiGa u 1080p i rekao uuu aaa super i onda gledao da ga izbrišem, dok obićni divx-ovi pa i 720p mi drežde na HDD-u kao kolekcija.

...upalio 720p...nema razlike jedino kad sjednem tik uz TV pa vidim puder od glumca na licu 
....nevjerovatno je kada čovjek trezveno vidi kolko se napuhavaju neke tehnologije na uštrb toga što ti golim okom nečeš vidjet...hoćeš al treba TV ko filmsko platno i da ležiš na parama.

Prije toga imo plazmu LGPQ20 i znam da mi je crna, SD i kontrast i na toj slabijoj plazmi buno bolji nego na LED-u. Kad odem kod jarana ne mogu se načudit koliko je plastična i isprana slika na njegovom 46'' Sony LED-u. HD prikaz je ok, ali SD je skroz ispran. Zato samo plazma, plazma, plazma! 
Ako išta "treperi," to je LCD/LED jer ima previše pozadinskog osvjetljenja.
