Here's a position of Interpreter/Translator to work in Sarajevo, within the Administration and Finance Department at ICMP.

Vacancy Background:

An experienced degree level Interpreter/ Translator is required to contribute to the operation of this dynamic organisation. The post will entail superior language skills including the ability to simultaneously interpret. The individual will be required to travel throughout the countries of the former Yugoslavia and should have an excellent command of the English language as well as Bosnian/ Croatian/ Serbian (including official versions) and ability to write and type in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts. Any proficiency in other regional languages will be considered an advantage though is not a requirement. The job will require flexibility and the individual will sometimes be required to work beyond normal working hours. Due to the nature of the missing persons issue many of the meetings attended may be emotional and highly charged. Some meetings will be at with high ranking government officials. Under the General supervision of the Chief Operating Officer/Director of Finance and the Head of the Administration Division the Senior Interpreter / Translator is responsible for, but not necessarily limited to, the following assigned duties:

Duties:

• Translates a variety of texts, respecting deadlines and using appropriate terminology. Must aim at a high standard of accuracy, consistency and faithfulness to the spirit, style and nuances of the original. Uses all sources of reference, information and consultation relevant to the text in hand.
• Interprets (consecutively and simultaneously) from/into Bosnian/Serb/Croat and English;
• Translates texts and documents of various kinds (legal texts including laws, decrees, agreements, minutes of meetings, newspaper articles, technical documents, financial documents, contracts, daily correspondence, etc.),
• Accompanies ICMP personnel to provide interpretation during meetings, conferences, discussions, radio and television shows, interviews, etc.,
• Keep records of all translations, available at request.
• Maintains a certain speed and volume of output, due account being taken of the difficulty of the text and the specified deadlines.
• Ability to establish priorities and to plan, co-ordinate and monitor own work.
• Good co-ordination with others working on same document in order to ensure consistency of terminology and style;
• Demonstrated ability to gain the support and co-operation of others in a team endeavour, with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• University degree in English Language or equivalent experience;
• Demonstrated proficiency to write in the English language;
• Fluent in Bosnian/ Croatian/ Serbian;
• Previous work experience with international organizations is an advantage;
• Excellent professional attitude, proactive and focussed;
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends as well as to travel when necessary;
• Team player, capable of performing under pressure;
• Computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheets, internet/email)

Koliko znam plate su tamo prilicno dobre. Ovo za neredovnu isplatu prvi put cujem, ali vrijedi provjeriti.

Da. U svakom slucaju je zanimljivo pokusati, narocito ukoliko ispunjavas uslove ovog konkursa. Mozda su imali neku krizu oko usvajanja budzeta ili nesto slicno. Svejedno ja sam trenutno u takvoj situaciji da mogu birati da ostanem na dobro placenom poslu a ovaj konkurs mi je zanimljiv iz razloga sto se nadam da je tacan opis ovo interpreter/translator, bez one komponente assistant koji u dosta slucajeva radi sve drugo osim prevodjenja, sto je iz moje perspektive odvratna kombinacija.

U takvoj sam kombinejsn.
Oglas je vise nego primamljiv, ali mene posao u ICMP ne privlaci cisto zato sto ne mogu iskulirati bolne situacije i tu mi rad po pritiskom i u krizi ne ide...

Ma vecina je u takvoj kombinejsn a u pravu si i za ovaj dio oko samog sadrzaja i postavljanja pitanja samom sebi, koliko si u stanju raditi s tim temama jer je zaista specificno bolno i potresno.

Zato se i ne prijavih...jos uvijek imam svoj poslic gdje imam pritisak preveliki, ali nije bolno ko ovo...

Plata je redovna i više nego dobra.
