Return of the prodigal son
Timo Hildebrand is set for a return to the Bundesliga. The seven-time German national keeper will join 1899 Hoffenheim when his contract at FC Valencia expires and will be turning out for the current league leaders when the season resumes at the end of January.

The move brings to an end the most difficult chapter in the 29-year-old's career.

Tough times in Spain

After losing out on a place in the Germany squad for EURO 2008, Hildebrand has found himself this season demoted to number three keeper at Valencia under new coach Unai Emery.

1899 were one of several clubs rumoured to have an interest in Hildebrand, with Ralf Rangnick apparently not always wholly satisified with the performances of the club's two current keepers Ramazan Özcan and Daniel Haas.

Old acquaintances

Rangnick and Hildebrand in fact go back a long way together. Rangnick was in charge at Stuttgart from 1999 to 2001 and it was he who gave the then 20-year-old keeper his Bundesliga debut against Freiburg in November 1999.

Hildebrand never looked back at VfB after that, going on to make 221 top-flight appearances for the team from the South West before moving on to Valencia. After helping Stuttgart to runners-up spot, Hildebrand eventually got his hands on the championship plate in 2007.

He incidentally also holds the Bundesliga record for going the longest period without conceding a goal: 884 minutes, on a run extending over two seasons in 2003.

Germany debut

Hildebrand's national team debut was perhaps one to forget as Rudi Völler's Germany went down 5-1 to Romania in 2004. He remained the regular third-choice keeper in the squad for the next four years.

He moved to Valencia in 2007, fresh from his title success with VfB. Unfortunately, he joined the top Spanish outfit just as their fortunes were going into serious decline. By the end of the season they had got rid of several coaches and only just avoided relegation.

Up and away

Hildebrand started life in Spain on the bench, before managing to edge out fans' favourite Santiago Canizares.

He went on to make 26 league appearances for Valencia and played in the Spanish Cup final victory over FC Getafe which ensured them a place in Europe after all.

Now, the "wayward son" is back in the Bundesliga and not a million miles from his old Stuttgart stamping ground either.

In fact, there will be a couple of familiar faces to greet him in Hoffenheim alongside that of Rangnick. Tobias Weis, Andreas Beck and Matthias Jaissle all moved up the road to join 1899 and on current form, none of them can be regretting it.

Najvećeg udjela u tome imaju Ibišević i Salihović  :bih:

Vidis sta znaci onaj Sejin promasaj protiv Bayerna :x

Vjerovatno bi uzeli Bayerna, a ovim Raketicevim levatima bi slozili sedmicu.

A vidi sad :x

:bih:
