Zanima me kako si nasao ovo ?

Air Berlin PLC, a German carrier, has acquired LTU for EUR140m in cash.

Air Berlin said it acquired the other airline to expand its operations. The Associated Press reported that Air Berlin will assume between EUR190m and EUR200m of LTU's debt.

The aim is reportedly for LTU to remain a legally independent company within the Air Berlin group. This means the carrier will have its own management and its own name "in the foreseeable future", according to Air Berlin.

Air Berlin has also said that it has agreed to purchase a 49% stake in Switzerland's Belair Airlines AG, a unit of the Hotelplan group. No further financial details were disclosed.

Both deals are subject to approval by regulators.

Germany's Air Berlin was introduced on the stock market today (11 May).

The airline was introduced at a price of EUR12.65 per share, which is reportedly at the lower end of its set range. The attempt to launch the airline on the stock market was the second this month as the planned offering on 5 May was cancelled at the last minute, The Associated Press reported. The cancellation decision was made after it was deemed that the price range was too high.

The price range was cut from EUR15-17.50 to EUR11.50-14.50. This also meant that the carrier ended up revising the expected amount to be raised to EUR225-284m.

Air Berlin said that the new estimated gross proceeds are expected to be EUR225-284m, The Associated Press reported.

Germany's Air Berlin intends to take legal action against a ruling by the European Court of Justice.

The airline will reportedly take action against the ruling that states that it is fair that air passengers should be compensated for delays or cancellations.

Die Welt, a German newspaper, quoted airline spokesman Peter Hauptvogel, who said that the airline will defend itself by all legal means. Hauptvogel said that he expects national courts to rule differently in the matter.

German-based charter airline, Air-Berlin has reportedly ordered CTT's Zonal Drying system for its 26 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The airline decided to implement the system - which combats condensation in the thermal and acoustic insulation of modern passenger aircraft - after conducting a successful evaluation in one of its 737-800 aircraft this spring.

The Zonal Drying System reportedly reduces maintenance costs by extending the service life of the aircraft insulation; reduces fuel usage by cutting non-revenue weight; and helps to reduce corrosion and the risk of electrical faults.

Air-Berlin is scheduled to begin installing the system from Autumn 2002.
