Olympique Lyonnais v. PSV Eindhovan

Lyon topped the Group F with 16 points, 6 points ahead of R. Madrid with the following results:

Lyon wound up their preparations for this crucial CL home leg with an emphatic 3-1 win over Ajaccio last weekend (no surprise though – Ajaccio is at the foot of the French Ligue 1 table). With that win Lyon remained as the only team amongst the leading contenders in the CL that is yet to be beaten in their away matches of their domestic leagues.

Ironically though they have lost twice at home, going down to Lille (1-3) and Rennes (1-4 in their last home match). Here Les Gones have scored 21 goals in the 14 matches played (average 1.5). With that 1-0 lead over their visitors, their task of getting more goals today will be made easier because the visiting Dutch side will be forced to come out to get a goal/s if at all they hope to win this 2-legged tie.


Apparently Gerard Houllier will prefer John Carew (he overcame a calf injury) to lead the forays into the visitors' half with Sylvain Wiltord and/or Sidney Govou alongside him. The strike pair will be aided by Juninho who is not only the top scorer whose versatility knows no boundary as he has assisted in many goals that the side has scored.


Guus Hiddink isn't that lucky. He will be without his Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink whilst defender Michael Lamey is very doubtful to make it to the line up. That somehow balances the loss in the home side that will be deprived of Cacap, Monsoreau and Revelliere.
