George's Reel-to-Reel-tape-machine.
These songs, most of whom were written during the Beatles' two-month-stay on a meditation-course in Rishikesh, India, February-April, 1968, were subsequently recorded for the 'White Album'. But not all of them made it onto vinyl and thus remain unreleased (at least as Beatles'versions).
Judging by the outcome of this session, it must have been a very sunny and relaxing day. Spring certainly was in the air (and a bit of pot maybe too).
Just accompanied by their acoustic guitars John, Paul and George recorded very charming and joyful early versions of their newest tunes.
Sometimes slightly out-of-sync with their own double-tracking but who cares?
Spontanity counts!
Had this session been recorded 25 years later it would have been a bonafide MTV-Unplugged performance!
But as it is, this 1968 session remained in the vaults until now!

We proudly present this tape to you in the correct running order and in the best possible sound (two generations away from the acutal master-tape).
Enjoy!
The short acoustic bit of "Helter Skelter" was recorded on 11th June, 1968 at Abbey Road studios.
The last two tracks were recorded in India.
The light atmosphere of these musical snippets set the tone for the "Kinfauns"-session.

The Beatles: Live at the BBC (released Dec. 6, 1994)

Between March 1962 and June 1965 the Beatles were featured performers in 52 radio programmes on the B.B.C. They sang 88 different songs, of which 36 were never issued officially. This double album contains 56 songs made at BBC sessions, digitally remastered and compiled by George Martin. It is an essential addition to the Beatles catalogue.

01) Christmas Time Is Here Again
Recorded on November 28,1967 for the Beatles fifth fan club Christmas record.

02) Because
Recorded on August 1 and August 4, 1969 during the 'Abbey Road' sessions. This track features just the beautiful harmony vocals of John, Paul and George, recorded three times to get magnificent vocal harmonies. During the breaks you can hear a guide electric guitar, coming in from the headphones!

03) Revolution
Recorded on July 10-12, 1968 during the 'White Album' sessions. This is an early 'rough' mix of the hard-rocking electric version, which was released on the B-side of the 'Hey Jude' single and did not appear on the album.

04) I Me Mine
Recorded on January 3, 1970. This is the original short basic version as produced by George Martin.
Phil Spector re-edited this song to get a 51 seconds longer version for the final 'Let It Be' album.

05) Strawberry Fields Forever (take 1)
Recorded on November 24, 1966. A truly magnificent take of one of the Beatles' best songs, completely different to the previously released version.

06) Hey Jude (rehearsal take 9)
Recorded on July 30, 1968.

07) Magical Mystery Tour
Recorded on April 25-27, 1967. Different vocal tracks and overdubs compared to the previously released version.

08) What's The New Mary Jane?
Previously unreleased song. Recorded on August 14, 1968 during the 'White Album' sessions. Mixed by John Lennon in late 1969, from take 4.

09) Lady Madonna
Recorded on February 3 and 4, 1968. Early basic version without overdubbed brass and backing vocals.

10) One After 909
Recorded on September 4, 1962. This version is different to the ones featured on 'Ultra Rare Trax Vol.1.' and 'Ultra Rare Trax Vol.4.'!

11) Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Christmas Time Is Here Again
An early and previously unreleased version of 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da', recorded in July 1968, running into a short reprise of 'Christmas Time Is Here Again' (see track 1 for details).
Rumours go that this was panned as a B-side of 'Leave My Kitten Alone', but it remains unreleased until today!
