The Obama campaign has accused the Clinton camp of "the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering" after the news website, Drudge Report, published an photo of Barack Obama in full Somali traditional dress, which it said had been sent by a Clinton aide.
The photo, taken in 2006, shows the Democrat frontrunner dressed as a Somali elder, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in north-eastern Kenya, the Drudge Report said.
With just five days to go until the crucial Texas and Ohio primaries, the reaction from the Obama camp was swift and ferocious.
"On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we've seen from either party in this election," campaign manager, David Plouffe, said.
"This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and it's exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world."
The Clinton campaign was forced to let a volunteer go in December after he suggested in an email that Barack Obama was a Muslim.
The Clinton campaign issued an official response to what is being called the "dressed" photo, but the statement, from campaign manager Maggie Williams, did not respond to the central question of whether staffers circulated the photo.
"Enough. If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely," Ms Williams said.
"This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry. We will not be distracted," she said.
Retired Air Force General Scott Gration, who accompanied Senator Obama on his trip to Kenya in 2006, defended Obama's wearing of the local dress over his clothes, saying Obama was merely being a "great guest".
The blogosphere was seething with conversations about whether the action was a racist slur by the Clinton camp and whether it would now dog the remaining days of Senator Clinton's campaign, where she is fighting for her political survival in the Democratic primary race.

on je gotov ako dobije nominaciju. ako ga neko ne upuca, ima da mu nabace svasta da ispadne da je obama gori od osame.
fino mu stoji turban.
danas je hillary ljutito nastupila da jedva ceka da ga nariba na debati u ohaju sto je zezao za podrsku nafti. bice hvatanja za vratove.

Ovdje ubise sa reklamama. A komplikovan nekakav sistem, prvo su prajmariz pa onda caucuses u istom danu(?!). Najnovije ankete pokazuju Obamu vec ispred Hillary u Tx, a prije 2 sedmice bio je iza 20 procenata. Sto mi je drago sto sam bio u pravu.
Ma nema sanse da Tx Clintonova uzme, pazite sta vam kazem - u utorak gubi Tx (ne znam za Oh) i do kraja sedmice povlaci se iz trke.
