Moratti Confirms Inter-Barcelona Talks Over Ibrahimovic & Eto'o
Talks over a swap deal have taken place..

Jul 16, 2009 7:00:53 PM

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and director of football Txiki Begiristain are in Milan with the view of negotiating a deal with Inter for their ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish international has never fully committed his future to the Milanese giants and Laporta is attempting to prise the former Juventus star to his treble winning side.

After negotiations for Valencia hitman David Villa reportedly broke down, the Blaugrana patron claimed the club would be exploring other options and it seems one of them could be 'Ibracadabra'.

Earlier in the summer, reports also emerged that a swap deal between the two clubs that would see the ex-Ajax player move to the Catalan club and Samuel Eto'o move in the opposite direction was in place, but the transfer never materialised.

The two club's have been involved in a fair bit of activity with one another lately, as Barcelona have already confirmed they will be signing Inter left-back Maxwell for approximately €5 million and on Thursday stories emerged that the Serie A outfit were on the verge of taking Aliaksandr Hleb on-loan.

UPDATE: 00:30 CET: Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted that he has met with Laporta to talk about a swap deal involving Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o.

"I have met Laporta. We spoke about Eto'o and Ibrahimovic," the oil tycoon stated.

Sky Sport Italia are claiming that Inter could sell Ibrahimovic to Barcelona for 40 million euros, plus Eto'o and Hleb.

Spanish Press: Barca Sign Ibra From Inter For 40m Plus Eto’o
The Catalan press has reported that Barca have concluded the signing of Ibracadabra.

Jul 17, 2009 2:14:40 AM

Barcelona have reportedly concluded the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter.

According to Sport, Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and Raul Sanllehi had met with Massimo Moratti late Thursday night and an agreement was supposedly reached around midnight.

The transfer will see the Blaugrana part with €40 million plus Samuel Eto’o and Alexander Hleb, with the Belarussian joining the Nerazzurri on a loan spell.

The Barcelona-based daily believes that Inter had initially informed the Blaugrana that Ibrahimovic was keen on moving to the Camp Nou, at which point the Catalan giant contacted Eto’o, who immediately gave the part-exchange deal the green light after a proposed move to Manchester City fell through.

And when Barca’s own negotiations with Valencia for David Villa all but collapsed, Laporta promptly contacted Moratti to arrange an emergency meeting last night upon receiving a request from team coach, Pep Guardiola to conclude the deal as soon as possible.

It is also speculated that ‘Ibracadabra’ will take a pay-cut in order to play for ‘El Tricampeon’ – and also ensure that he does not eclipse Lionel Messi – while Eto’o has allegedly demanded €13m from the San Siro outfit for a period of five years, or €65 million in total.

Odlicna vijest!
Najdrazi igrac u najdrazem Evropskom klubu (mimo nasih granica).

Eto`o je sjajan igrac, ali nije ni blizu Zlatana.
Ocekujem dominaciju Barse u narednoj sezoni.

- Ne znam hoću li igrati u utorak protiv Chelseaja u Pasadeni (drugi dvoboj World Football Championshipa, op. a.).

Moratti: Negotiations With Samuel Eto'o Are Ongoing
The Cameroonian's wage demands appear to be a sticking point for the Nerazzurri.

Jul 21, 2009 2:19:59 PM

Samuel Eto'o and his representatives have been locked in talks with the Inter hierarchy since last night, but president Massimo Moratti has said that nothing has been agreed yet.

"We are still a little way off [from an agreement], but this is normal," he told Italian media agency Ansa.

"We found an agreement very quickly with his club. Now we are speaking with all concerned and everyone is trying their best for themselves," he mused.

These quotes come after Moratti told El Mundo Deportivo that Eto'o would accept Inter's offer, but no contract has yet been agreed on.

The sticking point is Eto'o's wages, as Inter offered the player €9m per season. Eto'o is thought to be demanding around €12m, closer to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's reported wages, but may lower his demands over the course of the negotiations.

While the former Mallorca striker may be persuaded to accept a lower wage, Inter may be able to increase their offer if they can move some of their fringe players off the wage bill.

The likes of Nicolas Burdisso, Amantino Mancini and Nelson Rivas are all expected to leave and any agreement for their departure would allow for a little more financial manoeuvring during the Eto'o negotiations.

Keirrison: I’m Good Enough To Play For Barcelona, But Prepared To Go On Loan
‘K9’ believes he has what it takes to play for Barca, but acknowledged that he would accept the club’s decision to send him out on loan…
23 Jul 2009 05:56:15

Keirrison will land in Barcelona today [Thursday] to sign his contract and officially complete his move to the Camp Nou from Palmeiras.
It has been speculated, however, that he will be immediately shipped out on loan, possibly to Benfica or Porto, in order to learn the ropes of European football. And the 20-year-old has confessed that he would have no objections, although he assured that he is ready to play for ‘El Tricampeon’ now.
“I’m happy to be part of Barca and I know I am at the right level to play for them,” he said in an interview with Sport prior to his flight to Catalunya.
“I am well prepared, although it is always necessary to refine your game because football is a dynamic sport. I know that once I leave my country, I will grow a lot.
“I think it will be good to go on loan to learn more about European football. I do not see any problems with this. I know that the club are only doing this to prepare me. I accept that just fine and I will be ready when that time comes,” he added.
K9, as he is affectionately known, is confident that it will not be too big a leap to go from Brazilian football to playing for the Blaugrana as he believes his style fits perfectly to the club’s footballing philosophies.
“Barca are the best team in the world. I know that I can contribute a lot with hard work,” he reasoned.
“It brings me immense joy just to be at a club with such greatness and with so many fantastic players, such as Lionel Messi. I have full admiration for him.
“Personally, I have many different styles and I can adapt to whatever the coach wants from me. And when you play alongside great players, it makes everything easier.”

Ibrahimovic Bids Farewell To Inter; Barcelona To Sever Eto'o Ties

The big summer swap deal is nearing completion, although there is some work still to be done...
Jul 23, 2009 2:59:57 PM

The long-awaited swap deal between Barcelona and Inter for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o took a step further to completion today following the news that 'Ibra' is returning to Europe to sign his Camp Nou deal.

Meanwhile Samuel Eto'o's agent revealed mere hours ago that his client has agreed a package with Inter thought to be worth in the region of €10.5 million per year for five seasons.

Ibra bid farewell to Inter coach Jose Mourinho and the players today at the American training camp before boarding a flight for Sweden. From there he will travel to confirm final terms with Barcelona.

Barcelona themselves are geared up for the transfer, too, as club CEO Joan Oliver flies to Milan to iron out some final details following Inter's admission that Eto'o is willing to join the Nerazzurri.

When these few klix issues are resolved, the transfer should go ahead. Monday is thought to be the date on which all loose ends will be tied up.

State Of Play

If you're having trouble keeping up with one of this summer's more confusing sagas, here is the exact situation, correct at time of this article's publication. Be sure to check the latest article for the latest updates!

* Samuel Eto'o has agreed terms with Inter, but has not yet agreed payment of his loyalty bonus from Barcelona. Until this issue is resolved he will not consent to a transfer.
* Zlatan Ibrahimovic's path to settling a formal agreement with Barcelona is thought to be without obstacles. (Italian sources state that he will take a pay cut to €9m per annum, but that this is balanced out by Spain's having a lower tax rate than Italy.)
* FC Barcelona have already offered a fee between €45m and €52m, plus Eto'o, plus the loan of Aliaksandr Hleb, in exchange for Ibrahimovic.
* Inter have already accepted the above offer.
