Imagine supporting them. Imagine being fleeced for over a grand a year to watch an absolute frippery: whose weaknesses have been blindingly obvious for years and years, yet are never remedied; and have morphed from being renowned as boring winners into beautiful, hopeless, pea-hearted losers. Football as candyfloss. Football as Sisyphus.

It's all about profit and the bottom line where Arsenal are concerned. Scarcely any players for their fans to truly identify with, no real leaders either. Don't worry about winning something truly important: just keep finishing 4th and stay on that gravy train!

Yes, Wenger did a great job for many years; yes, the Invincibles were a joy (albeit, I thought the 2001/2 Champions were actually better); yes, what he's done for them financially has been remarkable. But Arsenal, a club which used to be all about winning things, have completely lost sight of what they are (or at least, once were); and before long, might well have lost their identity altogether.

He has to go. And Arsenal have to lose their constant fear of dropping out of the top 4, thank him for the memories, and just get on with it under someone new. To do anything else would, in keeping with many of their players, be yet another example of craven, rank cowardice.

Arsene Wenger says Gabriel's lack of English 'a problem' for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says £11m signing Gabriel Paulista's English is "very bad" and "a problem". The 24-year-old centre-half joined from Spanish club Villarreal last month.
Wenger previously said that Gabriel's poor English could cost his side goals.
"When you don't speak English and you don't understand 'Come out, come back, right, left', it is a problem for a defender," Wenger said. "You need to know the key words. Offside. Referee. Foul."
