Brad Mehldau has followed his musical inclinations into some surprise territories. First gaining attention as a member of Joshua Redman's quartet in the early 1990s, he could have easily been expected to unfold a new traditionalist's approach to jazz. Instead he's taken that formidable grounding and attached it to a wide range of compositional explorations. The solo piano Live in Tokyo is framed by a pair of Nick Drake compositions, and in between are pieces by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, and Radiohead, along with one original. The material is all linked by Mehldau's focus on melodic identity and harmonic invention. He succeeds in finding the stately heart of each number, with Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" sounding perfectly natural alongside Gershwin's "How Long Has This Been Going On?"

On Brad Mehldau's Nonesuch debut, he interprets in a live solo performance material from such varied composers as the Gershwins, Theolonius Monk, Nick Drake and Radiohead. Longtime fans of Mehldau's recordings with his celebrated trio are accustomed to such wide-ranging taste.

The relentless, driving drums and thunderous bass of the opening title track are the magic components that make it the best song Iggy Pop ever recorded without the Stooges. They're also why this is Iggy's best solo album--which also includes the ominously upbeat "The Passenger," with its hilariously ennui-filled, sing-along chorus ("La la la la la la la la la..."). As with Pop's first solo album, The Idiot, David Bowie has his hands all over the proceedings (if not somewhere else as well) as the producer, songwriter, and general overseer of Iggy the popstar. The record reached 28 on the U.K. charts. Of course, as the jagged, dark guitars on "Sixteen" and "Neighborhood Threat" make clear, Iggy's version of pop music is anything but conventional, and anything but bland. "Some Weird Sin" ("That's what I want...") could have been Iggy's theme song in 1977, heavy with innuendo and a dangerous joie de vivre.

But somehow they pull it off, creating, in the process, some of the most beautiful, complex and dense music set to wax. Curtains realizes the considerable promise of their first two acclaimed records with such wonderful cuts as "Rented Rooms," "Desperate," and the John Irving-esque "Bearsuit." Best of all, though, is the charmingly tongue-in-cheek bonus track, "Marriage Made in Heaven" which features a duet with Isabella Rossellini, who, though a much more accomplished actress than singer, provides a charming and accurate vocal counterpart to the swooning Mr. Staples: "He just groans and moans."

This Montreal four-piece creates a majestic wall of sound through ghostly, swirling pop with haunting melodies, artfully crafted songwriting, and sonic guitar explorations. Featured in Rolling Stone and MTV's Ten Artists To Watch In 2003.

With pretty synth lines; chiming, chugging guitar riffs; the right influences for a rock band, circa 2003 (the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Cure , New Order, Radiohead, U2, Chameleons) and another sexy singer with a melodramatic, soaring tenor, this well-hyped Montreal band could very easily be another lame Interpol cover band. But the Stills are far more than the sum of their influences; they've actually recorded one of the best debuts of 2003. The first clue that this band is for real lies in their songcraft--hear the soaring "Lola Stars and Stripes" once and you want to hear it again. Hear it again, and it's stuck in your head all day. Check out the words ("We all need to feel secure, we're so middle class/ But I'm still waiting for next week's chemical blast") and you realize Logic deals with topical issues, such as the aftermath of 9/11, in a way that's neither cheesy nor histrionic. It's definitely ironic in parts--they've stolen the title for their moody "Let's Roll" from Neil Young's ill-fated tune of the same name, for instance. But this is still soaring, meaningful pop music.

kao sto vec rekoh, ja sam svojevremeno kupio ovaj album tako da ga nisam skidao sa ovog servera.

ali zato sam prije nekoliko dana skinuo Tindersticks koncertni album (The Bloomsbury Theatre, 12.03.1995) i to bez ikakvih problema

Na zvanicnoj Tindersticks' web stranici se moze procitati da je znatno teze doci do originalne cd verzija ovog albuma, nego do one objavljene na vinylu, i to radi greske prilikom stancanja albuma u cd formatu.
