FENWAY SPORTS GROUP AND LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB ANNOUNCE

BRENDAN RODGERS AS NEW MANAGER

Reds reveal highly rated Rodgers as the man to take them forward
Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Liverpool Football Club announced that Brendan Rodgers has been appointed as the club's new Manager, after signing a contract.
Rodgers, 39, is regarded as being at the forefront of a new generation of football coaches, an excellent tactician and motivator with a progressive philosophy. After an extensive two-week process where many highly-qualified candidates were carefully considered, Liverpool's ownership group identified Rodgers as the single klix candidate to implement their long-term vision.
At Liverpool, Rodgers' primary focus will be the first team but he'll also work extensively in collaboration with the new football operations structure as the team adheres to the continental football Sporting Director model. Further details on this structure will be provided in due course.
Rodgers joins the Reds after a hugely successful spell at Swansea City; where he won them promotion to the Barclay's Premier League in his first full season in-charge. He then further defied the odds by securing a mid-table finish in England's top flight, playing a brand of football praised for its fluidity and entertaining, attacking nature.
New Manager Brendan Rodgers says he can't wait to get started at Anfield:
"I'm blessed to be given this opportunity. I want to thank John Henry, Tom Werner and FSG for the opportunity to manage such a great club. I'm really excited and I can't wait to get started on this incredible project going forward. I promise to dedicate my life to fight for this club and defend the great principles of Liverpool Football Club on and off the field."
Liverpool's Principal Owner John Henry says they've got the man they want:
"Fenway Sports Group is committed to building for the long-term. Brendan Rodgers' appointment today as manager of Liverpool Football Club is one of the most important steps we will take in building the kind of club on and off the pitch supporters can be excited about.
"Brendan's comprehensive football philosophy is perfectly aligned with those at the club and those soon to join the club. He was the first choice unanimously among them and he had no hesitation at all in embracing exactly what we want to try to build at Liverpool."We do not expect miracles overnight nor should anyone else. But we firmly believe that the direction the club is heading in will lead to Premier League championships. We will embrace the unconventional, build the right way and together set a bold, exciting course for this historic club."Chairman Tom Werner says the fans can look forward to some exciting times ahead:"The style of football Brendan is associated with is exactly what we want to see at Anfield."Aggressive, attacking play; Swansea were a revelation last season with their brand of entertaining football."But it's not just what he has achieved in the last two years that has impressed us; he has dedicated his career to coaching, has studied the game all over Europe and he is the perfect person to take this club forward.
Rodgers extensive coaching background began in 1995, when at just 22 years of age he became Academy manager for Reading. His talent and enthusiasm drew admirers and in 2004 Jose Mourinho swooped to secure his services for Chelsea, as they went on to dominate the Premier League for the next two campaigns.
The Northern Irishman was soon to be given the opportunity to manage outright, being appointed manager of Watford and then subsequently Reading, where his professional journey began.
Throughout his coaching career, Rodgers travelled Europe and visited clubs such as Valencia, Sevilla and Barcelona as well as clubs in the Netherlands to exchange ideas on football philosophy and to learn from some of the best teams and managers in the game.Managing Director Ian Ayre says he is an impressive character:
"When you meet Brendan you can't help but be inspired by his knowledge, passion and vision for the game.
"The experience he has for such a young age shows we are getting someone at the very top of their profession.
"He and our owners both have a clear plan of how to bring success on the pitch and he will have the full support of everyone at Liverpool Football Club while he strives to achieve that."

On je Beniteza ocijenio najboljim stručnjakom, dodajući kako i Maxi Rodriguez, Lucas i Daniel Agger slično razmišljaju.

- Blagoslovljen sam ovog prilikom.

Wolfsburg doveo prvog strijelca holandske lige

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Klark napustio klub...
One of Rodgers' first moves this morning was to sack Mourinho’s former No 2, Liverpool coach Steve Clarke.

Clarke was immediately linked with the vacant manager’s job at Norwich City and a return to Champions League winners Chelsea.
Kenneth Dalglish @kennethdalglish
Congratulations to Brendan and Good Luck to everyone at LFC. Kenny

Daily Mail: Rodgers plans double swoop

This story has been reproduced from today's media. It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Football Club.New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has put Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey at the top of his transfer wishlist

Rodgers has vowed to strengthen his Anfield squad as he looks to introduce the passing brand of football that served him so well at Swansea.
He hopes to steal Sigurdsson from under his former club's nose, and poach Dempsey from Fulham.
Icelander Sigurdsson has already agreed a £6.8million deal with the Welsh club but could yet move to Liverpool instead.
Rodgers said: "I said when I had the chat with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, when I told him that I was going to Liverpool, that Gylfi came to Swansea because I was there as manager.
"I felt after six months that we needed a goal-scoring midfield player.
"His record is fantastic and I said to him, "I think this is the club for you".
"I pushed the club to make an agreement and they've done that in terms of the fee and the salary.
"I said to Huw, "I'm not going to do anything untoward - this is the guy you want."
"But ultimately, it's down to Gylfi. My only thing is that, if he comes on to the market, I will have to be interested.
"His initial chat has to be, I'm sure, with Swansea, because he had a good period there and did very well.
"The agreement is there now for him to come out of Germany.
"I said to Huw if I speak to the kid, I'll tell him to make sure he comes down to speak to the new manager - whoever that is.
"And if he's not comfortable with that, he's then in the marketplace - and then I have to look at him."
Meanwhile, the highly-rated Dempsey, 29 - who scored 21 times for Fulham last season - has only one year remaining on his contract and the American forward is set to quit Craven Cottage.
He is also a target for Arsenal and could be available for just £4m.

Brendan Rodgers wants games against Liverpool to feel like 'the longest 90 minutes of an opponent's life' - and we've discovered a video which illustrates exactly what he means.
Rodgers was lauded for getting his Swansea side playing the kind of 'Tiki-Taka' football made famous by Barcelona, and now he wants to take his philosophy to the next level as Anfield boss.
He explained: "I want to use the incredible support to make coming to Anfield the longest 90 minutes of an opponent's life. That's the idea.
"I want to see this great attacking football with creativity and imagination, with relentless pressing of the ball. I know what it's like because I had a team like that at Swansea.
"After 10 minutes when they haven't had a touch of the ball they are looking at the clock and seeing only 10 minutes have gone. It's a long afternoon."
Swansea received a standing ovation for playing this way at Anfield last season, and the video below illustrates that it wasn't just the Swans' first team who passed it like Barcelona.
The clip is from a reserve match between Swansea and Liverpool last season, and although the move in the video did not result in a goal, it illustrates the philosophy Rodgers instilled at all levels within the Liberty Stadium.

Liverpool FC are delighted to unveil their brand new fantastic Warrior state-of-the-art away strip for the 2012-13 season.

Following Warrior's design direction of modern tradition, the new kit is inspired by Liverpool's away kit from 1900-1906 which featured the yoke detail in recognition of sailors and the huge influence of the docks on the city at the time.

Mocni skroz dresovi :-D :-D :-D :-D

Sky Sports understands Liverpool's move for free agent midfielder Mohamed Diame is back on.

Diame, who played at Wigan in the 2011-12 season, is one of the top Bosmans around this summer and a host of clubs are after the Senegal international.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... D8_ktkuoDI

The move appeared to have collapsed following the sacking of former Liverpoolboss Kenny Dalglish.
However, new manager Brendan Rodgers has given the green light for the deal, as he is a big fan of the midfielder.
Liverpool could face competition from Aston Villa for Diame, with Paul Lambertkeen to sign him after taking over at Villa Park.
