Actually, this would be better described as the "Hermes scene." In Greek mythology, Hermes (Mercury to the Romans) is the messenger of the gods and the mediator between the mortal and the divine. In this scene, Turturro's character, "the Jesus," is representing the Jungian archetype of Hermes, who in Jungian psychology is the messenger archetype between the conscious and unconscious realms of the psyche. This is confirmed by the Hermes pose Turturro strikes at the end of his jig.

As theatre, the Dude (the Ego), as well as Walter (the alter ego or Shadow) and Donny (the inner Child), is so intimidated by the Jesus's bowling skills that the best retort which he can summon in response to the Jesus's overbearing bravado is a rather lame "That's just like... your opinion, man." However, as Jungian analytical psychology, the Jesus is actually warning the Dude to be careful during his hero's journey into the realm of the unconscious. Otherwise, he is going to get "fucked up." The Dude is genuinely troubled by the caveat, though he makes a pretense of disregarding it as a mere matter of opinion.

It should be noted that, as a Jungian archetype, Jesus is analogous to Hermes. However, there is more to the significance of the Hermes archetype bearing the name "Jesus" in this story, as is later revealed.

otisao pogledati u odsudstvu iceg pametnijek kondzuring 2 ..inace ne gledam horore ..nit je nesto strasno nit je neka prica...prilicno razvodnjeno i za americku publiku ciljano pravljeno. po meni bolji bi efekat imao da se kuci pogleda ali ajde moze proc...ako nista po istinitom ( )dogadjaju je .
