Mislim da je za one koji ne znaju, a zainteresirani su, zanimljiva informacija da je Immortal porijeklom Afro-Peruanac tj. preci su mu Africki robovi koji su dovedeni u Peru a odrastao je u Harlem, New York. Lirika poput njegove je jedan od razloga zbog kojih sam se zaljubila, kao petanestogodisnja curica , u rap/hip-hop. Rap u svom lirickom, politickom, socijalnom, muzickom zenitu, kada sam ga cula, je bio ostvarenje moje zelje da zivim u sedamdesetim godinama i da svjedocim revoluciju ljudskosti i muzickog utjecaja. Prosle godine ja mislim, Chuck D je bio gost govornik na koledzu u gradu u kojem zivim i nakon interesantnog izlaganja Mr. Chuck D.-ija na temu "Tehnoloska revolucija i informacija" ja sam ga pitala : Da li i kako on vidi moc i mogucnost hip-hopa-a da poveze ljude? Ja ne moram razumjeti sta Palestinac, mjesavinom sinkopaticnog, ludo dobrog 7/8 arapskog ritma i ekplozivnog prljavog basa, meni govori; nekako bez rijeci razumijem da je vrijedno. A jos kad, carima interneta, nadjem tekstove prevedene na engleski i zbilja povezem kakvu diskriminaciju, opresiju i genocid ti ljudi umjetnicki slazu u rime, ostanem bez daha. Elem, da se vratim Immortal Technique-u , svi albumi su sirovi, puni psovki i britkih zapazanja i komentara. Ovaj zadnji, The 3rd World, je jos i najizproduciraniji (ako je to upoce i rijech) od svih, ali tekstovi, ja mislim, nadoknadjuju postojoce muzicke nesuglasice i rupe. 2004 nekako prije izbora Mr. Immortal Technique je izdao EP Bin Laden Remix sa jednom verzijom feat. Mos Def a drugom feat. Chuck D. & KRS. Onome ko zna i cijeni, a nema u posjedu, ova informacija ce, ja mislim, biti vise nego dovoljna da ukuca Immortal Technique Bin Laden Remix.mp3 u google. Hip-hop kakav je nekad bio i onakav kakav treba biti. Moj najbolji prijatelj i ja smo njegovom tada desetogodisnjem sinu, koji je u skoli pao pod utjecaj bijelih-srednjestaleznih klinaca koji nemaju pojma sta je hip-hop, pustali Immortal da bi ga naucili ne sta je hip-hop nego sta je razmisljati svojom glavom. I da je hip-hop isto kao sto je i ,po rijecima Louis Armstrong-a, jazz: "If you have to ask, you will never know".
