Pravo na boravak ima u sljedećim situacijama, i ova pravila vrijede u čitavoj EU:
- EEA/EU nationals who are employed or self-employed.
- EEA/EU nationals who have ceased employment or self-employment because they have reached pension age or have taken early retirement, having resided continuously for 3 years before retirement and been employed or self-employed for at least the last 12 months before retirement.
- EEA/EU nationals who, having resided here for at least 2 years, cease employment or self-employment here because they have become permanently incapacitated.
- EEA/EU nationals following an occupational injury.
- EEA/EU nationals and family members of EEA/EU nationals, who have resided legally here for 5 years or more, have a right of permanent residence, regardless of whether they continue to be self-supporting or have become dependent on social welfare support. This right however ceases to exist if they are absent from the state for more than 2 years.
- EEA/EU nationals who are students (with comprehensive sickness insurance) enrolled in an educational establishment.
- EU nationals who have been employed or self-employed here may continue to reside during a period when they are temporarily unable to work as the result of illness or accident, or during a period of vocational training related to their previous employment.
- EU nationals who have been employed here for more than a year and who have became involuntarily unemployed may continue to reside as long as they are registered as job-seekers.
- EU nationals who have been employed here for less than a year and became involuntarily unemployed may continue to remain for a further period of 6 months provided they are registered as job-seekers.
- EU nationals who have sufficient resources to support themselves, their spouse/civil partner and any accompanying dependents and have comprehensive sickness insurance.
- EU nationals may reside in the State as visitors or jobseekers for up to 3 months without formalities but do not have any entitlement to social assistance during that time.

Sve ostalo je šuplja na bazi "čuo ja od tetkinog rođaka da se može/ne može".
Za njega je relevantno ili da odradi 1 godinu na poslu, pa se dogovori s poslodavcem da mu da otkaz i prijavi se na biro ili da odradi 2 godine, nakon čega stiče boravak ako postane trajno nesposoban. Također je preporuka da zaobiđe Njemačku i ganja bogatije države EEA tipa Norveška, Island, Švedska, Danska, Luksemburg, Irska koje imaju i bolju socijalu.
Npr. u Norveškoj nakon 3 godine staža stiče pravo na invalidsku penziju oko 3900 KM mjesečno koja se može isplaćivati u inostranstvu, u Irskoj nakon 5 godina staža 1700 KM itd.
Međutim ako ima šizofreniju, nerealno je da provede tolike godine u drugoj državi, a da ne napravi kakav incident. Ko je radio u BiH pa se razbolio, nije mu ni ovdje finansijski toliko loše, jer takvi imaju preko 700 KM mjesečno kad sabereš invalidsku penziju, invalidninu i tuđu njegu.
