"Russophile" NATO ambassador accused of spying
LJUBLJANA -- Slovenian Ambassador to NATO Andrej Benedejčič has been called for consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after media reports accused him of spying.

The newspaper Reporter published an article saying that is Benedejčič was suspected of spying on behalf of Russia, reported the Slovenian news agency STA.

U.S. steps up sanctions on Russia over Ukraine
(Reuters) - The United States announced more sanctions against Russia on Friday, affecting oil and defense industries and further limiting the access of major Russian banks to U.S. debt and equity markets to punish Russia for its intervention in Ukraine.

The sanctions, which for the first time targeted Russia's Sberbank , were timed to coincide with new European Union economic penalties that included restrictions on financing for some Russian state-owned companies and asset freezes on leading Russian politicians.

The new U.S. sanctions would tighten the financial noose on six Russian banks, including Sberbank, Russia's largest by assets, by barring U.S. individuals and companies from dealing in any debt they issue of longer than 30 days maturity.

Russia stops withdrawing its troops from Ukraine - NSDC

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has said that Russia has stopped the withdrawal of its forces from the territory of Ukraine.

"We have registered that the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Ukraine's territory has stopped," the spokesman for the Information and Analytical Center of the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Lysenko, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

At the same time, he noted that the number of militants in the area of the villages of Rozsypne and Pelahiyivka in Donetsk region has increased.

Over the past 24 hours there have been no clashes with Russian mercenaries in the border area, Lysenko said.

Anti-Ukraine protests for the Russian media
Many of the protests in different European countries with banners claiming that Ukraine is carrying out ‘genocide’ in Donbas, etc., are specially orchestrated, for, if not by, the Russian media.

Radio Svoboda reports that one such demonstration in Venice was supposed to have been organized by members of the federation of Italian trade unions and the committee “For an anti-fascist Donbas”. The banners were all critical both of the Ukrainian authorities and US foreign policy and spoke of ‘genocide in the south-east of Ukraine’.

The event was widely publicized and tweeted about, with numerous people tweeting the same phrase. Fortunately Ukrainians living in Italy also took a video of the event in which the TV Rossiya 24 crew can be clearly seen telling the ‘protesters’ what to do.
