Griješnost i grijeh, a samim tim asocijacije vezane za to poput prljavaštinje, prljavo, nešisto, nečist, su odlika svih man-made religija, pa samim tim i tkz. islama. In associating sex with sin and evil, Christians went much farther
than did the ancient Israelites. To the Christian philosophers, all sexual activity was associated
with sin, even sex between a husband and wife. They believed that it was better for a man to become celibate and for a woman to remain as a virgin rather than enter into marriage with all the lust and sex. This opinion is ·reflected in the writings of St Paul. With God's wrath about to be
unleashed in what was thought to be the rapidly approaching apocalypse and final day ofjudgment ,
Paul decided that it was better for people to remain umnarried, "To the umnarried and to widows I
say this: it is a good thing if they stay [unmarried] as I am myself " (I Corinthians 7:8). Paul
also believed that married men would be better off avoiding sex with their wives, "What I mean, my
friends, is this. The tiMe we live in will not last long. While it lasts, married men should be as
if they had no wives..."(ICorinthians 7:29-30).
The church father Origen also saw sinfulness in women, especially
their sexuality. In his opinion, women who have sex for any reason other than to have children are worse than animals: "But some women, for we do not censure all equally, but there are some who serve passion incessantly, like animals without any distinction, who I would not even compare to the dumb bests. For even the beasts themselves know, when they have conceived, not to further grant opportunity to their males." Origen's mentor, Clement, believed that women should be veiled lest they lead good church goers into sin, "Let her be entirely covered, unless she happens to be at home. For that style of dress is grave, and protects from being gazed at. And she will never fall, who puts before her eyes modesty, and her shawl; nor will she invite another to fall into sin by uncovering her face."
