Iran najavio izgradnju dvije nuklearne elektrane uz pomoć Rusije

Iranians produce drug to keep stem cells alive

Image
Studies conducted by researchers at Royan Institute have led to the discovery of a medicine that can keep embryonic stem cells in culture medium alive.

Dr. Kamran Ghaedi, winner of the award in the Stem Cells Group at the 17th round of Royan International Research Award, told Mehr News correspondent that his team has been conducting studies for several years on PPAR gamma factor, which is used in gene duplication.
Explaining about his project on ‘utilizing pioglitazone as a new method in increasing the efficiency of colony forming in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) culture’, he said “one of the factors that we have been working on is pioglitazone which can activate the PPAR gamma factor.”
According to him, the use of pioglitazone has allowed the embryonic stem cells to have a better survival rate and maintain their fundamental properties.
“In this study, we managed to prove that by using PRAR gamma, we can improve the colony forming and duplication of pluripotent cells in mice,” he added.
The Iranian researcher went on to add, “results show that using pioglitazone together with ROCK, reduces the apoptosis of the stem cells and increases the colony forming up to two or three times. Pioglitazone prevents the increase of Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 (GSK3) and induces the activity of Beta-catenin and E-Cadherin in cell membrane.”
“The findings can be used to improve the conditions for growing human pluripotent cells and increasing the efficiency of cell culture,” he said.

Recimo o svom nukleranom programu i ukidanju sankcija.

Nijedna druga muslimanska zemlja nema tu političku privilegiju. Sve dok Njemačka ne postane druga, inša-Allah

Iran ranks 6th in nanotechnology worldwide

Iran ranks sixth in the world in nanotechnology by submitting some 20 articles a day, said the secretary for the national nanotechnology development headquarters on Thursday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran accounts for 52 percent of the articles exploring and examining nanotechnologies in Asia, Saeed Sarkar said.

He further stated that by submitting some 20 articles a day Iran holds the sixth place in nanotechnology worldwide.

Sarkar made the remarks on the sidelines of the ninth nanotechnologies exposition in Tehran, IRNA news agency reported.

“While Iran was at the 57th place in 2011 by submitting 10 articles a day, in 2014 we succeeded in achieving the seventh place by doing 6,700 articles and then sixth place since then,” he highlighted.

“Being ranked below China, the U.S., India, South Korea, and Germany we are now maintaining a higher position than Japan and France,” he said.

There are more than 30,000 graduates in the field of nanosciences holding master’s degrees in the country, he said, adding, “Currently some 65 universities offer master’s degree programs and some 20 of them offers PHD programs.”

He went on to say that “we are also planning on initiating the first nanotechnologies Olympiads in Iran and so far six countries have expressed readiness to take part in the competition.”

Right now Iran’s nanotechnology products are being exported to 15 countries worldwide, he pointed.

330 various products manufactured using nanotechnologies are available at the market with 112 companies active in this section in Iran, he noted.

Sarkar additionally said that more than 140 high-tech nano-equipment are also being produced in Iran.

“Nanotechnology can help us to overcome some of the shortcomings we are facing in water, health, energy and environment sector,” he added.

The ninth nanotechnologies exposition was held in Tehran on October 5 to 8.

Shirin Gerami becomes first Iranian female to finish the Ironman World Championship
Image

Shirin Gerami, a 26-year-old woman, just became the first Iranian female triathlete to compete in and finish the 2016 Ironman world championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 8.

She swam 2.4 miles in choppy water, biked 112 miles, and ran 26.2 miles all while respecting the regulations her country enforces, requiring women to be covered at all times in public settings.

Before the race, Gerami told Sports Illustrated: “This will be the first time a female will be officially representing Iran in an Ironman. What was important to me was to create an opportunity where all women could access triathlons, to reap the psychological, physical and social benefits of sports—to swim, bike, run, immerse in nature and grow as a person. I believe what is most important is to have the opportunity”.

Gerami already transcended history in 2013, as Iran’s first female triathlete, following the International Triathlon Union World Championships in London.

By representing her country and respecting Islamic culture, Gerami agreed to respect the rules and regulations of Iran, which requires women to be covered in public settings.

“My hope is that by finding the right solution, the clothes would then provide an opportunity for more women to access sports,” Gerami says.

“Women who prefer to cover in order to respect religious or cultural values, personal modesty, body confidence issues, health and skin problems, [or] sun protection.”

According to Gerami, triathlon is a relatively new sport in Iran and even though men are authorized to compete, their problem lies within race logistics.

“For men, it’s not so much the question of obtaining permission to do triathlons, but the challenge lies in having access to good facilities, knowledge and coaching, funding, racing opportunities and experience—all that is needed to develop a sport in a place where it previously did not exist,” she says.

Gerami, who is in her 20s, started doing triathlons as a hobby during her last year of college at Durham University in England.

She is now doing triathlons full-time. And she’s worked with a long list of companies to get her sportswear right — from Roka, a swimwear company in the U.S., to Merooj, a company in Iran that makes everything from soccer balls to Olympic uniforms.

“In Iran, there are signs everywhere that say that covering, or the hijab, is not a hindrance — and it’s something I totally believe in. What you wear does not define who you are and what you can and can’t do. It’s just a piece of fabric,” says Gerami.

Pa, Jon Stewart je producent i reziser.
Film je mnogo "nezavisniji". Nije klasicni holivudski proizvod.

Tebi se ne bi svidio. Ne vjerujem da film nesto kritikuje. Samo prica pricu novinara koji je zatvoren u kazamat, a onda je podvrgnut mucenju.
