YPG commander Manî Egid: Afrin is being attacked from all sides, but the Turkish military has not made any real progress after more than three weeks (1)
YPG commander Manî Egid: "Turkish army and allied gangs are still in the border area. In some places they have penetrated three kilometers, at one point five kilometers" (2)
YPG commander Manî Egid: "They succeeded only because of their technical capacity. To take a place, they use fighter jets, reconnaissance drones, grenade launchers and tanks. They trust in technology, we trust in our willpower." (3)
YPG commander M Egid says Turkey doesn't care about refugees: "Turkish state says it wants to accommodate refugees from Syria in Afrin. So far, the Syrian refugees have always been used as a lever against Europe. Now they serve as justification for the occupation of Afrin" (4)
YPG commander M Egid: "Erdoğan wants to massacre and drive out the population of Afrin, so that the militia of the ISIS and the Al-Qaeda, who are in bondage with him, can settle in Afrin with their families. He is not concerned with refugees." (5)
YPG commander Manî Egid suggests Turkey wants to ethnically cleanse Afrin. "The demographics of Kurdistan is intended to be changed and the Kurdish achievements are intended to be obstructed. We will not allow that and we are prepared for it." (6)

Grad Efrin!
"The US better pull itself together and make a decision... We do not need anybody's permission", in military offensive in #Afrin or other places in #Syria, tells #Turkey's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
The claim that the US battles against Daesh was refuted, says Mahir Ünal, spokesperson of #Erdogan's ruling party AKP, stating that the gov't confirmed 400 DAESH militants were released by YPG from prisons on the condition of fighting against #Turkey.

What happened in northern Israel on Saturday is the beginning of the overt and direct war between Israel and Iran. The infiltration and interception of an Iranian drone over Israel, the downing of an Israeli F-16 and Israel’s retaliatory strikes against Syrian and Iranian targets that followed, are apparently just the opening scenes of a potentially wider conflict that could erupt if Iran continues trying to fortify its presence in the new Syria.
Israel needs to be concerned by Russia’s response to the events on Saturday. In Moscow, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling for restraint and for all sides to “respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.”
On the surface, it seems like Russia is taking Iran and Syria’s side and not Israel’s, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s best efforts to win over Vladimir Putin and his countless meetings with the Russian president. Beyond the ministry statement’s rhetorical significance, it could have practical consequences if Russia decides to deny Israel operational freedom over Syria in the future.
Israel will have to tread carefully and will not have a lot of choice but to accept Moscow’s directives. While Russia has allowed Iran to establish a presence in Syria it has – until now – prevented it from setting up large bases or a presence right along the border with Israel on the Golan Heights. That could all still happen – and will depend on what Russia’s interests will be when it comes to the future of Syria and the wider Middle East.
