Stari mitovi su se odrzali i kad su u pitanju baterije
1. mit - prvo punjenje mora trajati 12/16h
2. mit - bolje je potpuno prazniti bateriju umjesto dopunjavanja
Oba ova mita vazila su nekada davno dok su se masovno upotrebljavale NiCd i NiMh baterije u mobitelima i laptopima.
Ono sto se postizalo prvim dugim punjenjem je tzv. 'trickle' punjenje tj sporo dopunjavanje na 100%.
U svim novijim uredjajima nalaze se Li-Ion i Li-Polymer baterije koje ne koriste trickle dopunjavanje jer im to steti.
Posebno NiMh su imale tzv. memorijski efekt zbog kog su pojedini laptopi(ala IBM) pa cak i neki mobiteli(Siemens) imali u softveru opciju 'osvjezavanja' baterije forsiranim praznjenjem na 0% kako bi se memory efekt donekle uklanjao.

Instead, a brief topping charge is applied to compensate for the small amount of self-discharge the battery and its protective circuit consume."
"Most rechargeable batteries prefer a partial rather than a full discharge. Repeated full discharge robs the battery of its capacity. The battery chemistry which is most affected by repeat deep discharge is lead acid. Additives to the deep-cycle version of the lead acid battery compensate for some of the cycling strain.
Similar to the lead acid battery, the Li-ion battery prefers shallow over repetitive deep discharge cycles. Up to 1000 cycles can be achieved if the battery is only partially discharged. Besides cycling, the performance of the Li-ion is also affected by aging. Capacity loss through aging is independent of use. However, in daily use, there is a combination of both.
The NiCd battery is least affected by repeated full discharge cycles. Several thousand charge/discharge cycles can be obtained with this battery system. This is the reason why the NiCd performs well on power tools and two-way radios that are in constant use. The NiMH is more delicate with respect to repeated deep cycling."

Zakljucak:
-punjive male AA i AAA baterije(koje su vecinom NiMh) prvi put puniti duze, pozeljno brzim punjacem(2-3h npr Panasonic u Telopticu u Titovoj oko 25KM sto je dzaba za ovakav 'pametni' punjac - odlican punjac koji prati i voltazu baterije kao i temperaturu sa dva senzora ispod baterija

-baterije u laptopima i mobitelima prvi put puniti kao i uvijek, ne prazniti ih do blizu 0% sto im steti vec ih cesto dopunjavati (cim se isprazne na 20-40% kapaciteta). Obavezno izvaditi iz laptopa ako se isti koristi samo na jednom mjestu stalno ukljucen u struju. Ili ostaviti bateruju u laptopu ali nekoliko puta mjesecno pustiti da se baterija isprazni i ponovo napuni.
