Bosnian Immigrant Wins Local Lottery
Louisville Man Seeks American Dream Of Owning Home

LOUISVILLE -- Many dream of winning the lottery, and now, a Bosnian
immigrant living in Louisville will realize his American dream of owning a
home after winning $1 million.

Kemal Barakovic buys five lottery tickets, all with the same number, and all
from a Thornton's gas station on Preston Highway, where his son, Sanel,
works. The family came here from war-torn Bosnia after spending six months
in a Croation refugee camp 10 years ago, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Maria Gum
reported.

Kemal Barakovic doesn't speak much English, but he's now able to realize his
American dream of buying a house. He had five of the numbers right on each
of the five tickets, turning a $200,000 prize into a $1 million winning.

"I called my dad and the first thing I asked him was, 'What were the
numbers?'" Sanel said. "He told me the numbers, and I said, 'Dad, you just
won $1 million.'"

Kemal Barakovic said he'll also split the money with his two sons and pay
off all his debt, Gum reported.

Kentucky Lottery officials said it's one of the most memorable lottery wins
they can recall.
