AC Milan add Borriello to deal for Parma's Gilardino
tribalfootball.com - April 30, 2005
AC Milan are ready to add Marco Borriello in their offer for Parma striker Alberto Gilardino.
Milan remain favourites to land the Italy international at the end of the season, but the increased interest of Real Madrid has driven the forward's price higher than the expected £15 million Milan were set to agree on.
CSKA Moscow, which has links with Chelsea, have also expressed interest in Gilardino in the past 48 hours.
To clinch the 22 year-old's signature, Milan are ready to offer striker Borriello as a readymade replacement for Gilardino and also to make up the £3 million shortfall from Parma's new valuation of £18 million.
Parma are ready to sell to the highest bidder and know with each goal Gilardino scores the price for the youngster can be raised as bigger clubs circle

Arsenal and Real Madrid have asked after the Italy international, but his agent, Beppe Bonetto, said: "The ideal solution for his family and his international prospects would be to stay in Italy.
"However, it is now obvious that he deserves to play for a big club. He's managed to live up to the standards of last season which is a clear signal of his maturity."
"There have been a lot on inexact things written," added Bonetto. "Alberto has preferred not to comment on them as his side are in a fight to avoid relegation.
"However, I would like to underline yet again that I don't think he'll move abroad."
AC Milan are favourites to land Gilardino and Bonetto added: "It is almost certain that he will play or go to play at the San Siro next season."
