Celtic given hope of Stilic deal

Celtic could hold a competitive advantage over English Premier League clubs should they pursue their interest in Bosnian midfielder Semir Stilic.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Brom and West Ham have reportedly all also been tracking Lech Poznan's 21-year-old.

But agent Miro Jaganjac told BBC Sport: "In the English case, it seems that he has not played enough international matches to gain a work permit.

"But it seems that is easier in the case of Scotland."

Jaganjac was unwilling to name the English clubs who have expressed an interest but admits that Celtic scouts have watched Stilic in action.

And the Bosnian appears to be the kind of attack-minded midfielder who could fill the role presently occupied by Shunsuke Nakamura at Celtic Park.

The Japan midfielder wants to return to his homeland at the end of the season, with former club Yokohama F Marinos reportedly willing to pay a hefty transfer fee to secure his services earlier, in January.

Nakamura's goals have been vital to Celtic during more than three successful years in Glasgow and Stilic has hit the net nine times this season after signing from Zaljeznicar a year ago.

But the Bosnian is in no hurry to leave Lech, who have already turned down a £2m offer this season for the midfielder under contract until 2012.

"He has had a good season so far in the Polish league and in Uefa Cup games against Grasshoppers and Nancy," said Stilic's agent.

"We have had contact with several clubs in the UK and the English clubs have been talking to Lech Poznan about his availability.

"But he is very happy there and neither he nor I are actively trying to find a new club for him.

"However, it is good that his form is being recognised and if there's a good offer then, of course, anything can happen."

Yet again, the Bosnian playmaker was the focal point for the majority of Wolfsburg’s best moments during their 4-1 home win over Stuttgart. He provided assists for two of the goals for Grafite and Dzeko.

The goals quite simply speak for themselves with Vedad Ibisevic. It can no longer be said that the Bosnian’s goal scoring exploits are just a flash in the pan. 16 goals in 14 games this season is a phenomenal return in anybody’s book. Two goals against Köln on Saturday saw Hoffenheim take all three points and return to the top of the table.

Honourable mentions:

As always there are a number of players, who deserve a special mention despite having not made it into the final XI.

Bayern were on fire against Cottbus with Philipp Lahm and Miroslav Klose worthy of a special mention. In defence Massimo Oddo and Martin Demichelis also did well.

Sejad Salihovic was on top form for Hoffenheim as were Artur Wichniarek, Daniel Halfar and Markus Schuler for Bielefeld. Despite finishing on the losing side both Renato Augusto and Patrick Helmes were deserving of a mention.

Josip Simunic and Raffael did well for Hertha, while Patrick Ochs and Martin Fenin were both on fine form for Frankfurt. Edin Dzeko bagged a double for Wolfsburg as did Grafite and can consider themselves unlucky not to make the ‘Team of the Week’.

Prema kickeru(najrelevantniji njemacki sportski magazin) u tim sedmice su izabrani Ibisevic i Dzeko.Drago mi je zbog Dzeke,ovo mu je prvi put da je u timu kola,a steta sto nisu stavili Misimovica,mislim da je i on zasluzio biti u timu kola.

@zecko kontam sta si htjeo reci,i ja trenutno nemogu da se nacudim o svemu ovome sto se desava sa nasim internacionalcima...prosle sezone je bilo Dzeko postigo pogodak joj radost do neba,ipak nismo navikli da ovakve rezultate ostvaruju nasi u ino ligama,sve u svemu uzivajmo u momentima koje smo tako dugo prizeljkivali.

The 19-year-old has been one of the revelations of the season, and not just because he has quite staggeringly managed to score five goals already this season despite being a defender.

"I try not to think about it, otherwise I might think that I'd rather take it easy. But I don't. Even if it's like a dream, I don't want to be woken up," he told the Bundesliga's official website.

Having made the transition from the second division with Mainz to the starting lineup in Dortmund without so much as the smallest hiccup, Subotic was asked what the reason for his success has been.

"That's hard to say," he answered. "I always gave my best and never took things easy. Maybe it's down to my position, too. As a young attacker is easy to come into the limelight, but it's equally easy to disappear. As a defender you always have to take responsibility, and that helps you to mature faster."

Banja Luka-born center-back Neven Subotic is involved in an international tug-of-war between Serbia, Bosnia, and the United States. Reports that the Serbs have won the heart of the Borussia Dortmund defender have recently been recinded, and Subotic has said he will make up his mind at the end of the season.

Ja ne bih da stvaram teoriju zavjere,ali odakle je potekla informacija da je Subotic definitivno rekao da ne zeli igrati za BiH? Mi smo tu informaciju prihvatili kao tacnu bez da smo ista provjerili.Sjetimo se samo kako smo reagovali(i ja licno) kada smo procitali izmisljenu informaciju da Bajic ne zeli vise igrati za BiH,pa se sve to ispostavilo kao lazno.
Mozda su za Subotica isto tu informaciju plasirali srbijanski mediji,njihov savez,kako bismo odustali od njega.
Ja bih volio da to cujem iz njegovih usta da je prekrizio BiH,ili bar od nekog od bh medija kojem vjerujem.
Mislim da bi Ciro,ako imalo ozbiljno shvata svoj posao,a ne kao hobi koji ce raditi izmedu big mama house i svog reality show-a,trebao otici na noge Suboticu da ga nagovori.Ukoliko ga odbije,znamo na cemu smo.

Veoma bi nam pomoglo kada bi Subotic zaigrao za nas a da ne govorim o politickom znacenju te odluke. Bilo bi lijepo.

za stilu bi bolje bilo da odigra do kraja sezone za lech, a valjda u medjuvremenu bude imao i koji nastup za rep. pa dobije radnu dozvolu za premiership.
