Glavna haška tužiteljica Carla del Ponte objavila je u četvrtak u Beogradu da je hrvatski general Ante Gotovina uhićen u srijedu na Kanarskim otocima, doznaje se od njezine glasnogovornice Florence Hartmann.
General Gotovina će uskoro biti prebačen u Haag. Del Ponte je zahvalila Hrvatskoj i španjolskim vlastima na uspješno obavljenom poslu. Podsjetila je i da Haaški tribunal od rujna traga za Gotovinom.

Evo Carli još padoše kredibilitet, jer eto nije Ante u Hrvatskoj kao što se ona u to klela.

Uhićen Gotovina!
Glavna haška tužiteljica Carla Del Ponte objavila je u Beogradu da je hrvatski general Ante Gotovina uhićen dan ranije na Kanarskim otocima. Dogovara se njegovo izručenje Haškome sudu. Uhićenje je potvrdio i Sanader.
General Gotovina pojavit će se pred Visokim španjolskim sudom u četvrtak poslije podne. Za očekivati da će se saslušanje o izručenju održati što je prije moguće, javio je izvor iz suda.
Glavna tužiteljica Haškog tribunala zahvalila se španjolskim vlastima na akciji, te rekla da će Gotovina biti ubrzo isporučen Haškom tribunalu.
"Želim samo da vam priopćim dobru vijest koju sam dobila prije sat vremena: Ante Gotovina uhićen je prošle noći na Kanarskim ootocima i bit će uskoro prebačen u Haag. To je za nas jako dobra vijest", rekla je Del Ponte, "Mi smo u potrazi za Gotovinom od rujna i konačno je ga imamo u pritvoru Očekujemo da će i drugi bjegunci Radovan Karadžić i Ratko Mladić biti ubrzo privedeni i izručeni Haškom tribunalu".
"Radi se na proceduri izručenja Ante Gotovine Haagu", kazala je glasnogovornica glavne haške tužiteljice Florence Hartmann.
"Del Ponte se tim povodom čula s premijerom Ivom Sanaderom", kazala je Hartmann te dodala da se tužiteljica zahvalila hrvatskoj strani na suradnji.
Gotovinin odvjetnik Marijan Pedišić rekao je za HRT da još uvijek nije obaviješten o uhićenju svog klijenta.
"S obzirom na izvor, smatram da je vijest vjerodostojna. Pošto je uhićen u inozemstvu, pretpostavljam da će to izručenja doći vrlo brzo", dodao je Pedišić.
General Gotovina optužen je 2001. godine za zločine počinjene tijekom i nakon operacije Oluja, i od tada je bio u bijegu.

A Croatian general charged with war crimes has been held in Spain, the UN's chief war crimes prosecutor has said.
Ante Gotovina was one of the most wanted men from the 1990s Balkan wars.
He is accused of war crimes against Serb civilians during a Croatian offensive to expel Serb forces from the country in 1995.
Carla Del Ponte, chief prosecutor at the International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague, had repeatedly sought Gen Gotovina's detention.
She had previously criticised Zagreb's efforts to arrest the general.
The controversy delayed the start of talks on Croatian membership of the European Union, although the green light was finally given after Ms Del Ponte said she was satisfied with Croatian co-operation with the tribunal.
Gen Gotovina was arrested on Wednesday night in the Canary Islands, Ms Del Ponte said, and was due to be transferred to The Hague on Thursday.
She said she hoped Gen Gotovina's detention would speed up efforts to arrest Bosnian Serb fugitives Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.
Throughout the tribunal's efforts to track him down, Gen Gotovina has maintained support from a wide section of the Croatian public, some of whom regard him as a national hero.

Top Croat war crime suspect held
Until his arrest Gotovina was the most wanted Croatian war crimes suspect.
BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro (AP) -- The chief U.N. war crimes prosecutor said Thursday that top Croatian war crimes suspect Ante Gotovina was arrested in the Spanish Canary Islands.
"Ante Gotovina was arrested this night in Spain," Carla Del Ponte said In Belgrade. "He's now in detention."
The U.N. court has accused Gotovina of masterminding the killing of at least 150 Serbs and the expulsion of some 150,000 others during Croatia's bitter 1991-1995 war.
Del Ponte said Gotovina soon would be transferred from the Canary Islands to a detention unit at the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.
Gotovina, the most wanted Croatian war crimes suspect, has been at large since the tribunal accused him in mid-2001 of the wartime atrocities.
"Since September we were working to find Gotovina and finally we could achieve that," Del Ponte said, thanking the Spanish authorities for the arrest.
For years, the failure to arrest Gotovina has blocked Croatia's membership talks with the European Union. But the EU eventually opened negotiations with Croatia in October after Del Ponte said the country was cooperating with the tribunal.
