12 maj, Balkansko vece ili ne? :D Slucajno nadjoh na netu zanimljivu diskusiju vezanu za nastupajuce 'izbore' :D

If the Balkans read this article and somehow get this info to all of the public voting..then they might ALL qualify!!

They would each give their Top4 scores to each other...

Slovenia, Bosnia, FYROM, S&M, Croatia: 12+10+8+7=37. I know this is enough but they'll have a huge comparative advantage starting with min. of 37 votes vs. all other countries with 0 ;)

Super - European nation contest - i thought its an song contest [R] - DanielCH, Apr/1/2004 16:01:03

You make that sound just like that preselection of 1993!!! [R] - Julie-semis4Sweden, Apr/1/2004 16:02:19

Or like the jury voting last year [R] - DanielCH, Apr/1/2004 16:06:47

Speaking of that, Elán were robbed!!! Amnestia na neveru would have been the best song in ESC 93 :-) - Stefan, Apr/1/2004 16:06:54

I returned from Prague with an Elán CD from that time and I really like that Slavic Rock sound :-)

Would have been my 2nd fave in 93 - Julie-semis4Sweden, Apr/1/2004 16:08:58

and they were robbed!

Let's start with Serbia ! - aysun, Apr/1/2004 16:06:37

possible countries that will vote for Serbia are :
Bosnia , Slovania, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Macedonia, Austria, Russia, Ukraine, and Romania. I considered the neighbours and some historical relations (like Russia and Ukraine). so if each of them gives at least 6 points to Serbia will get 60 points at least. but I am sure some of them will give more. and maybe some other coutries will also vote for the song cause it is simply beautiful. so I think Serbia will make the final easily :)

and Macedonia ! - aysun, Apr/1/2004 16:10:37

hmm this is tricky. Possible voting countries will be :
Greece, Turkey, Bosnia, Albania, Croatia, Romania, Malta. if they give average of 5 points then Macedonia will have at least 35 points. Hmm not enough. I am afraid song is not very good enough to get more than 5 points but who knows I might be totally wrong :)

and Albania ! - aysun, Apr/1/2004 16:14:31

I feel quite pessimistic about Albania. possible voting countries will be :
Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Bosnia, Croatia, Malta, Romania, Slovania.

average point will not be more than 4 points I guess. so it will get around 32 points from those countries. I am not sure really whether it will get more points than 30 or not. it depends totally on her performance :)

And Bosnia! :) - Noah, Apr/1/2004 16:19:25
Homepage: Back to the Old World: Istanbul Journal

SCG, Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Turkey.

12, 8, 8, 7, 6, 5, 8, 5, 10 = 60! My, my, my... ;)

why is austria voting for serbia for sure? i didn't know of any strong relatiosn there..or similiar musical tastes?? [R] - Bostonian , Apr/1/2004 16:13:23

actually they are geographically pretty close to each other (seperated by Hungary) . so I thought maybe they consider themselves as - aysun, Apr/1/2004 16:17:24

neighbours ;)

I don't think so Aysun! :) [R] - Bostonian , Apr/1/2004 16:18:51

You're forgetting Bostonian that....... - Ron, Apr/1/2004 16:11:05

.....the Balkans will only have one sixth of all available votes on the night. It's an absolute impossibility all five could qualify on neighbourly voting alone and without the other 28 countries also voting for them.....if the votes go elsewhere,we could conceivably end up with only one or two Balkan entries in the Final.

I think the ex-Yugo countries may harm each other as much as help them - Ron, Apr/1/2004 16:05:53

Particularly if the 12's and 10's don't all go in one direction and start going all over the Balkans.

With 33 countres voting I think the neighbourly voting will be seriously damaged and it's quite possible the ten best songs might go through (shock, horror) :))

From your mouth to God's ears Ron ;)) [R] - Bostonian , Apr/1/2004 16:14:10
There is another issue that Keith didn't mention. However I don't know how to include this in the calculations. - Gilles, Apr/1/2004 16:14:03

Last year we had 26 countries participating and 26 voting. Each voting country has a total of 58 points (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+10+12). So in the end the average was also 58 points.
But now in 2004 (semi) we have 22 countries participating and 33 voting (33 x 58 = 1914 points)But those 1914 points will be divided over 22 countries only, giving an average of 87 points (instead of the usual 58 average since 1975). What would this mean in terms of qualifying for the final, I wonder?
PS. I hope you get my point.

It's impossible to make any assumption on voting patterns, as this year is a whole new ball game vote-wise. Plus we all seem to think that - JeremyNYC, Apr/1/2004 16:16:58

this and that country will vote for our favorite song - which of course is nonsense. :-)))

Your calculation is wrong I'm afraid. Cause only ONE of those 10 available votes from a country can go to one country - not multiple comb.. - Bostonian , Apr/1/2004 16:17:25

combinations. Could I explain it well? Probibly not huh :)
